Unfortunately another very sad article today. The SeaWorld in Queensland, Australia, suddenly lost 25 of its 37 little blue penguins to a currently unknown toxin. They are suspecting the toxin to be in the gravel that the penguins walk about on. Looks like they are currently trying to find what exactly happened and making sure the other birds are going to be okay. They say that the remaining 12 little blues should be enough to breed their population there back since they are very prolific breeders and of mixed gender.
This is a horrible tragedy and my condolences go out to the staff at Sea World for their loss. This coupled with the 32 yellow-eyed penguins lost in New Zealand just recently marks a terrible loss for the penguin population.
